As the cold weather approaches the safety of your cat is very important. Here are some helpful tips to keep your cat safe and warm this winterwinter safety pic

  • Before starting your car check under the hood, underneath your car, and also in the wheel wells. Cats like to hide in these places to seek shelter from the cold and wind.
  • Antifreeze may taste good to your cat but it can be toxic and even deadly. Make sure all caps are secured tightly and clean up any spills.
  • Make sure your cat has a warm place to sleep away from any drafts and off the floor.
  • Keep cats indoors. Cats can get frostbite on their paws and ear tips.
  • Do not leave your cat in the car. The temperature in your car can become cold enough to be fatal to your cat.
  • Pay close attention to sick and older cats. Cats that are less active and have lost muscle tone may have trouble maintaining their body temperature. Make sure they stay warm and comfy.
  • When using ice melt on your sidewalk or driveway make sure it is safe for all pets. This can easily be tracked in on your shoes.
